How do I care for and store Tiff's Tallow?
Tallow is an anhydrous product meaning "without water" so remember to keep water out. Whenever opening & applying Tiff's Tallow always use clean dry hands. Also, our sugar scrubs may be tempting to place in the shower but please refrain from doing so to keep moisture out. Simply grab a bit of sugar scrub before hopping in the shower. Also, our whipped tallows can melt at high temperatures so please keep them away from a sunny window sill or heater vent. If your tallow melts you can keep it in the fridge for a harder consistency but it is fine to use even if it melts. It is meant to be kept at room temp.
Where do you source your tallow?
We source everything as locally as possible. We source all the tallow we possibly can from Sunnyfield Farm & Sunnyfield Meats in Eden, Utah. We occasionally source additionally needed tallow from Bingham's Custom Meats in the beautiful country mountain town of Morgan, Utah. We are committed to sourcing tallow from local USA farmers & ranchers in our area. We believe American farmers and ranchers are the backbone of our country & we fully intend to support them & create sustainable revenue sources for them through tallow to not just survive but thrive. Our jars are also bought in Utah and we sometimes use essential oils made in Utah.
Why are your tallow sugar scrubs in glass jars?
This is a deliberate choice due to essential oil properties. Essential oils can break down plastic and bring microplastics into the product so we choose not to put anything with essential oils in plastic.
How much whipped tallow is in your 4 oz. jars?
We squeeze as much as we possibly can into that little 4 oz. jar. We are usually right at 2 oz. of tallow due to the weight of whipped tallow being lighter. For our new 8 oz jars, we are right at about 4 oz of net weight, which is double the size of a 4 oz jar.
Do all of your tallow products contain essential oils?
No. We recognize that our herb-loving friends often don't want essential oils in their products so we have an herbal-based whipped tallow called "Garden Goods". It is released each year after the herbs have been organically grown and dried enough to infuse into the tallow. Garden Goods is currently seasonal and limited so please sign up for restock alerts if interested. Also, we have a "Squeaky-Clean" whipped tallow year-round that contains just two ingredients, without any added scent that is essential oil & herb-free.
How long does handmade tallow last?
If kept clean and dry, whipped tallow-based products are best within 12 months. Tallow balms are good for a very long time but due to possible contaminates from hands in jars over time, we say that it's best within two years.
Is Tallow good for everyone?
Nothing is for everyone but tallow is for most people. Please always perform a skin patch test to see how you respond to tallow before putting it on a large area.
Are your products scented heavily?
No. We don't want to interfere with other scents and most of our products contain essential oils which are very potent in tiny amounts. We like to say that we have very lightly-scented products.
What do I do if my order is missing, damaged or melted?
We make every painstaking effort to ensure that our small-batch handmade tallow products (that take us about a week to make) are correctly packaged for transit. Once it leaves Tiff's Tallow, we are no longer in control. Therefore, we highly suggest that you insure your package. If something happens, you will be able to recoup your hard-earned money and repurchase your order.
In the summer months we always ship on ice packs Monday-Wednesday only to try and mitigate our tallow getting stuck over the
weekend & melting in the mail. However it is a risk that it may arrive to you in a melted or liquid state. By placing your order during the summer months, you are
consenting to the possibility of them arriving in this state and refunds will
not be issued based on consistency upon arrival. If your tallow product arrives in a melted or liquid state please set it upright in a cool room or refrigerator until it solidifies. The quality of the product will remain intact even if the consistency that it arrived in was different than expected. Also please keep a close eye on your tracking information to snag the tallow from your mailbox as soon as it arrives during the summer as well.
What if I am unhappy with my product?
Due to the nature of our small-batch handmade products,
all purchases are final. We cannot accept refunds, exchanges, or returns. We cannot accept unused or unopened products because the water-tight seal on our lids
that prevent moisture from getting in can be opened & closed without evidence of either. We cannot and will not take the risk in reselling anything to other consumers after it leaves our hands.
We recognize that everyone has their own unique preferences
when it comes to scents, textures, and colors. As a small, handcrafted
business, we’re unable to offer returns or exchanges based on personal preferences. We appreciate your understanding.
Please email us with questions you have about our products
before you purchase them to make sure it’s the right fit for you. Remember to be cognizant of allergens (i.e. certain essential oils or lanolin that’s in our
Deep Work formulation if you have a wool allergy). Tiff’s Tallow is inculpable for any adverse reaction or allergy to our products. We stand behind the unmatched quality of every ingredient and product we make, and are always transparent in
what we are crafting our products with. In the rare case of a reaction, please contact us promptly.
Again, please perform a small-patch test of any new product
on your skin before heavily applying to a larger area. This is best practice for trying any new skincare.

How long is the turnaround time?
We try to fulfill every order within 5-7 business days. Oftentimes, we can get it out sooner. Please include your email and we will notify you if there are any unforeseen circumstances with processing your order.
